Getting Started:
How do I profit from becoming a Rent.com affiliate?
Here's how the Rent.com Affiliate program works:
- You put links to Rent.com on your website.
- Visitors click on your links and go to Rent.com to find a new place to live.
- You earn $0.20 for each registered renter and up to $70 for each verified new lease.
Does it cost anything to become an affiliate?
No. Joining the Rent.com Affiliate Program is absolutely free.
How do I sign up?
Simply read our Terms and Conditions
and fill out our
application form.
Once you have been approved, you will receive an email with information
on how to create and integrate Rent.com links on your website.
I have more than one website, should I sign up each one individually?
No, all of your individual websites should be listed under the
same account. You will receive a single check for the total combined
revenue of all your websites.
How do I build my Rent.com links?
When your affiliate application is approved, we'll send you a
URL (which will include your unique source code) that will serve as
your link to Rent.com's homepage. If you'd like to create additional
links to other Rent.com pages, please go to our
Link Library page.
How many links should I have on my website?
It's entirely up to you. Rent.com does not limit the number of
links on your website. We've found that affiliate sites with multiple
links generally earn more than those with just one or two.
Qualifying to Become a Rent.com Affiliate:
Is my website qualified to become a Rent.com affiliate?
Rent.com evaluates the merits of each prospective affiliate
individually. Rent.com accepts a range of different types of
websites to become affiliates.
However, Rent.com DOES NOT accept:
- Websites promoting violence
- Websites promoting discrimination based on race, sex, religion,
nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age
- Websites promoting illegal activities
- Websites that capture user data before sending the user to
Rent.com
- Websites that make use of spam or mass email to reach users
- Websites containing adult or sexually explicit content
Can I become a Rent.com affiliate if I live outside of the United States?
Yes, we welcome affiliates from around the globe. However, please
note the Rent.com website only serves the rental housing market in
the United States.
Can I become a Rent.com affiliate if I already have apartment listings on
my site?
Absolutely. In this case, we recommend using our logo with the
following text: "For more apartment listings, search Rent.com." Or,
if you just want to use Rent.com for certain states or cities, you
can easily create links to those specific search pages.
Marketing:
How do I optimize my website and increase my traffic and leads?
Please read our Marketing Tips for
information on how to get the most out of your website.
Where can I find Rent.com logos and banners to use on my website?
All of our banners and logos can be found on our
Graphics and Banners page.
Statistics and Tracking:
Are my links working properly?
Your links to Rent.com should look like this:
http://www.rent.com/?source=xxxxxx
To make sure your Rent.com links are working properly, first click
through your website and verify they lead to your desired Rent.com pages.
Then, after 48 hours, log in to your Rent.com affiliate account and go to
Your Statistics. If your links are
working properly, you will see your test clicks in your statistics
report. If you're still not sure if your links are working properly,
contact us,
and we'll be glad to help.
What is the difference between "Gross Leases" and "Paid Leases"?
"Gross Leases" are the number of new leases reported in a given
calendar month. ("Gross Leases" have not yet been validated within our
collections system.) "Paid Leases" are the number of leases for which
Rent.com has collected payment in a given calendar month. You will be
compensated for the number of "Paid Leases" you generate.
How does Rent.com keep track of visitors from my website?
Rent.com uses individual source ID numbers embedded within your
Rent.com URLs to identify and track visitors from your site.
You are responsible for the integrity of your URLs. It is
very important not to alter them. To see if your Rent.com URLs are
working properly, simply log in to your Rent.com affiliate account and
go to Your Statistics.
If someone clicks on one of my links and then later returns to Rent.com
without using one of my links, do I still get credit for that lead or
lease?
Yes, as long as that person created an account with Rent.com during
their initial visit from your website, that account will always be
credited to you for as long as the account exists or until a lease is
reported.
How long will it take before I see results?
The average time it takes from when a renter first creates his or her
Rent.com account to when they report their lease is 45 days. You could
start to see results within as little as two weeks or as long as six
months. (NOTE: Not every renter will generate a new lease.)
Payments:
How much do I get paid?
You earn $0.20 for each registered renter and up to $70 for each
verified new lease.
Here's how it works: When one of your visitors reports to Rent.com that
they have signed a new lease, Rent.com will send an invoice to the
property where the lease was transacted. Once Rent.com receives
payment from the property, you will earn $0.20 for each registered renter
and up to $70 for each verified new lease as our thanks for guiding
traffic to our site.
Can I receive payment in other ways besides a check?
No, payment by check is the only option at this time.
How often will payments be sent?
Payments are sent once a month. You will receive payment for any
given month by the 30th day of the following month.
Other:
I handle a very high volume of traffic on my website; can Rent.com
assist with extra administrative and/or technical support?
